The chief officers of the Eaton’s Neck Fire Department recently presented a plaque from the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York to longtime volunteer firefighter Roy Beach, age 89, in recognition for over 50 years in the volunteer fire service. Beach served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and took part in the Normandy landings on D-Day. He has been a member of the Eaton’s Neck Fire Department for 43 years, where he served for 30 years as Fire Commissioner. Before joining Eaton’s Neck, Beach served for 20 years in the Levittown Fire Department, and has a combined total of 63 years of dedicated service to the community. Beach is still an active member and works the firehouse radio room during alarms.
